Hutch Aerospeed Crank Set - 175mm

This Aerospeed Crank set is designed to work on almost any vintage or modern frame set. The crank arms are manufactured using the same die-stamp tooling and methods as the previous American-made cranks, yet have been adjusted to include a 6 degree rake angle. The larger rake angle allows this version of Aerospeed arms to clear the chain stay on almost any vintage or modern frame using minimal spacer washers. Components include chrome-plated 175mm length Aerospeed crank arms with the spider/disc mounting bolt, classic brown-sealed bearings and aluminum cups to facilitate American or Mid BB installation, chromoly 48-spline 5.5" spindle and bolt set, spacers for American and Mid installations, and old-school spacer washers and modern cone washers for your choice of vintage or modern appearance. Cranks are packaged in a beautiful form-fitting foam collector's box.

Spacer instructions:

The shorter spacer is designed for all Mid BB installations. 

The longer spacer is designed for all American BB installations that the frames were manufactured with the correct 68mm wide BB shell width. Please be aware that vintage frames did not always follow the standard 68mm BB shell and some are shorter. In those situations, you may need to grind the spacer shorter for the correct fit. We have no way of providing shorter spacers that did not follow the industry-standard 68mm BB shell width on the frame. Even some vintage Hutch frames did not include correct 68mm BB shell width, so please be aware of that. If you would like a precision installation, we recommend that you purchase a machinist's dial calipers from a discount tool store like Harbor Freight so you can measure your vintage frame to know if it was correctly manufactured with a 68mm BB shell. If you install your BB into your frame and the aluminum bearing cups will not insert all the way into the frame, that is a good indication that your vintage frame did not include the correct 68mm BB shell width. You will need to remove the BB and grind the internal spacer slightly shorter for the proper fit. This is not a defect of the Hutch Aerospeed Crank Set. This is a defect of your vintage frame.
